Updates from the Chair

February 2022

Reminder: the next meeting of the Danby Democratic Committee is Thursday, March 24th (the fourth Thursday in March.)

The county committee has provided me with petitions from all but one candidate.  (That last one is expected soon.)   I also have voter registration lists

Petitioning begins March 1st.  Signed petitions need to be returned by March 31st.

Please let me know if you are willing to get signatures on petitions.  I will see that you get what petitions you want.   All but two positions have no opposition.

There are 7 candidates for the 22nd congressional seat and 3 candidates foy the 53rd NYS senate seat.  You may carry petitions for one or more or all candidates.

I will provide petitions and go over the rules when you get them.

I have attached a file with info about all petitions.

I think the missing petition will be available soon.  I will have time beginning Thursday to get petitions and info to anyone who is able to help.

June 2021

The next meeting of the Danby Democratic committee is Thursday, July 22nd  at 7:00pm.  All registered democrats in Danby are welcome to attend meetings.  Membership on the committee is open to any registered Democrat in Danby.

For the 2021 Primary in June, Danby has 3 contested position.  Keith Shipman and Anthony Wells are the candidates for highway superintendent.  Ted Crane, Katharine Hunter and Pat Woodworth are candidates for the two open seats on the town board.

Statements by each of the candidates is available on the committee website (danbydems.org).  A link to the recording of the forum held on June 5th is also available on the committee website.

The town of Danby is in the midst of a major rezoning process.  The current zoning regulations have been in place for a very long time and need to be reevaluated and revised.  All subdivision applications have been put on hold until the end of the year.  The plan is to have a new zoning ordinance by the end of this year.  There are several committees meeting once or twice a month to help craft a new plan.

If anyone has any questions, please contact Pat Woodworth, committee chair, at woodwrth@ithaca.edu.
